Showcasing the gorgeous picturesque town of St. Ives in Cornwall, this fine art print is reproduced from a contemporary and modern painting taken of a small focal point of St. Ives harbour beach looking back to the fishing village shops on the main stretch. Moored up to the harbour wall are two beautifully sketched fishing boats local to St. Ives slip.
The expressively large buildings in the background create a sense of surrealism to the painting, giving a bold finish to the composition of the piece. St. Ives was one of Roberts favourite places to visit and that is of no surprise. This location is renowned for beautiful views, amazing restaurants and quaint small shops and galleries. A place many travel to, a holiday haven which is also a historic fishing village, through narrow cobbled streets and small fishermen's cottages and coves, this destination is always a popular Cornish location for locals and travellers alike.
Using bold blue hues accompanied with washes of yellows and greens, shading down from the bold tall building showcasing their importance, down to the soft sand with wet pools of water brushed into the surface, where the boats moor and wait peacefully until high tide. A favourite among many, especially Robert himself.
