OPALESCENT OYSTER

Originally painted with gouache to give a vibrant and colourful feel and retain rush strokes and textures, this piece is a part of the colour series. A selection of prints focusing on the use of high vibrant colour schemes and contemporary illustrative techniques.

The opalescent oyster print is inspired by freshly shucked oysters, where when wet, shine beautifully. Inside the oyster shell has an abalone colour formation which is a smooth iridescent calcium. The pearl perched effortlessly within the muscle acting as a plump pillow, delicate and valuable .

Utilising washes of eggshell blues and lilacs, with peaches and vivid lemon yellow hues to create a modern take on the reflective prismatic colour waves that wash over the oyster shell.
