For this post I thought that I would have a little waffle on about where my inspiration comes from to want to fill my need to create ocean artwork and illustrations, I do live beside the ocean as there are a vast selection of beaches just a short walk from my home, which for that I am very lucky to have. I take my inspiration from first hand observation and use that to mentally depict what is it and which layer of the sea I would like to create next throughout my works.
I choose to work through a range of materials, techniques and styles ranging from illustration, small imagery to extra large paintings that can take weeks or months to finalise. I don't think I have collected so much blue and grey paint and pigments in all of my life.
I work well by giving myself set tasks to do, so when I wake up I immediately start writing down what it is that I want to achieve today. It doesn't necessarily have to be a specific type of painting but it mostly usually is always a painting of sorts.
I range in my work from close up surface waters and reflection focal points, to waves in the distance, to waves close up and crashing all over the place, to mythological sea creature illustrations, to collectable trending series of works that can be for anyone. I do it all but I also do try to keep to my "ocean" theme.
For this post I have attached an image of some of the works that I have not long since finished. All of these are of underwater focal points. The light shining through the surface of the ocean as the viewer feels depth and longevity.
