Porth Beach Newquay

Colourful watercolour painting of a coastal scene with buildings and a river cascading through the centre of Porth beach in Newquay, coming from the underpass and towards the Mermaid inn pub to the right of the painting. Following on from this passes through the shops and campsite across the road beyond the beach steps.

With this follows a village with a steep road leading the way to Watergate Bay - this depiction is created using mixed media in a sketch like art style from views of Trevelgue head / Porth headland where benches are positioned in beautiful spots to remember loved ones and watch the sun go down.

It is a beautiful hotspot for tourists and locals love it for its timeless serenity as the sea fills in the river and the sand slowly retreats into the ocean throughout the course of the day.

Using washes of vibrant greens and yellow ochre hues, detailed with pale blue casts to depict the river washing through and the the sea slowly meeting its path. With a contemporary and modern sketch like art style, buildings look studied in block detail using the linear inking and bold outlines grab the attention from the landscape that colours around it. In a sense it shows the harsh difference between nature and urban built up areas, bringing awareness to the effect development has effected the landscape over time.

Porth is a major and popular location which was always a place of Roberts interest. Visiting here and walking the dog regularly with family, over the beach from the Mermaid Inn and up towards Porth headland over the walking bridge and to see the views over the cliffs. A beautiful view and a walk he made many times.
